Leones walk off with victory

Oswaldo Morejon's walk-off single in the ninth inning gave the Leones de Yucatan a 4-3 win over the Diablos Rojos del Mexico and a 3-1 lead in their Mexican League semifinal series Friday.

Said Gutierrez led off the ninth with a single and was replaced by pinch-runner Alan Arredondo, who moved up on Luis Borges' sacrifice. Sergio Palafox walked and Morejon followed with a two-out base hit to left field to plate Arredondo with the winning run.

Luis Arredondo drove in two runs and Palafox went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored for the defending Mexican League champions.

Reliever Jose Vargas (3-0) got the win, pitching around a hit and a walk with one strikeout in 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Yucatan starter Fernando Villalobos allowed two runs on six hits over five frames with two strikeouts and two walks.

Eduardo Arredondo went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored, while Manuel Velez singled and scored in the third for the Diablos Rojos.

Mexico reliever Roberto Ramirez (0-1) allowed one run on four hits over 3 2/3 frames, fanning out four and walking two. Starter Victor Alvarez gave up three runs on five hits over five innings with four walks and two strikeouts.
